Privacy Policy

Plain English. No lawyer speak. Here's exactly what we do - and don't do - with your data.

Last updated: 17 May 2026  ·  SportSort.uk

The short version: your squad and player data never leaves your device. We only load Google Analytics and Google AdSense after you accept non-essential cookies. No personal information (names, ages, emails) is required to use SportSort.

1. Who we are

SportSort.uk provides free online planning tools for grassroots sports coaches. If you have any questions about this policy, email us at enquiry@sportsort.uk.

2. Data you enter into our tools

When you use the Tournament Planner or any other SportSort tool, the squad and player data you enter is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. This means:

  • Your data never leaves your device under normal use
  • We cannot see, access, or read your squad data
  • No account or sign-up is required
  • No player names, ages, or personal information are required at any point
  • Clearing your browser data will remove it - export a backup via the app if needed

3. Live session sharing

The live session sharing feature allows coaches to share a live plan with assistants or parents. When this feature is used, your current plan is temporarily passed through our server so other devices can receive it. The data:

  • Is automatically deleted from our server within 24 hours
  • Contains only the plan structure (positions, game slots) - no player names are required
  • Is not stored in any database or linked to any user identity

We recommend using initials or squad numbers rather than full player names when using live sharing, especially when working with junior players.

4. Google Analytics

If you accept non-essential cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the tools are used - for example, which features are popular and how many coaches visit each month. The data collected is aggregated. We do not use it to identify individual visitors.

Google Analytics may set cookies in your browser to measure visits. You can reject non-essential cookies on SportSort, or opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5. Google AdSense and advertising cookies

If you accept non-essential cookies, we use Google AdSense to display advertisements on SportSort. This service is provided by Google LLC and allows us to keep all tools free for coaches.

Google AdSense may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to:

  • Show you relevant advertisements based on your browsing history
  • Limit how often you see the same ad
  • Measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns

Google's advertising cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) may collect data about your visits to this and other websites. We do not control this data collection and it is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

You can manage your ad personalisation settings at adssettings.google.com, or opt out of interest-based advertising via the Digital Advertising Alliance.

For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses advertising data.

6. Cookies

We use the following types of cookies or browser storage on SportSort:

  • Essential browser storage - used by the planner and the cookie preference choice
  • Analytics cookies - set by Google Analytics only after consent
  • Advertising cookies - set by Google AdSense only after consent
  • No session or login cookies - we have no accounts system

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies. Note that disabling cookies may affect how ads are displayed. For more detail, see our Cookie Policy.

7. Third-party cloud storage (coming soon)

A future update will allow you to optionally connect your own Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive to save squads across sessions. If you choose to connect a cloud account:

  • Data will be written directly to your own account - not ours
  • You authorise the connection via Google or Microsoft's own OAuth flow
  • You can revoke access at any time from your Google or Microsoft account settings
  • We will never access files outside the SportSort folder you grant permission for

8. Children's data

SportSort is designed with junior sports in mind and we take this seriously. No personal information about players - including names, ages, or photos - is required at any point. We recommend coaches use squad numbers or initials rather than full names, especially when using any sharing features.

SportSort is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at enquiry@sportsort.uk.

9. Data we do not collect

  • We do not collect or store your name, email address, or any personal details (unless you contact us voluntarily)
  • We do not sell your data to any third party
  • We do not build targeting profiles on individual users
  • We do not use dark patterns or deceptive consent mechanisms

10. Contact us

For any questions about this privacy policy or how we handle your data, please email: enquiry@sportsort.uk

We aim to respond within 3 working days.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as features are added to SportSort. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Significant changes will be noted in the app.
